Go NUTS for Coconut Oil

A growing body of experts, celebrities and beauty editors now swear by Coconut Oil; naturally antibacterial and antifungal it is packed with healthy fatty acids and antioxidants, makes a multi-tasking moisturiser, penetrates hair better than other oils, and smells like paradise!

There are very few natural oils that we can honestly say are miracle-workers, but Coconut Oil comes pretty close. You can use it for everything from healing scars to removing makeup, freshening breath to reducing wrinkles…

This new wonder-ingredient has a unique constitution, being rich in Lauric Acid and Polyphenols, (Lauric acid is known for keeping skin’s connective tissues strong, which prevents sagging and wrinkles) Vitamins E and K, and minerals such as iron. Studies on individuals with dry skin show that Coconut Oil can improve the moisture and lipid content of skin. Other studies reveal its effectiveness as a sunscreen and it has been found to be super protective against hair damage.

Our switched-on brands have been quick to adopt its benefits and we are seeing it appear in everything from anti-ageing Serums to high-tech Mascaras!

You can apply ‘neat’ Coconut Oil directly to soften the appearance of fine lines or use it daily on your face and body for a healthy glow. Be sure you use virgin Coconut Oil with no additives as produced by beauty experts RMS and Boutique French brand Laboratoire Du Haut Segala.

Here’s a round-up of its beauty uses:

Hair Conditioner

Use neat as a pre-shampoo treatment to soothe dry hair or as a leave-in conditioner to seal in moisture. Find it in Weleda’s lovely Oat Replenishing Conditioner.

Makeup Remover

Even the most resistant waterproof mascara doesn’t stand a chance. Check out Balm Balm’s Super Light Coconut Cleanser Balm – perfect for sensitive skin.

Breath Freshener

Gargling for 20 minutes with a spoonful of Coconut Oil can help clear up germs in the mouth, leading to fresher breath, whiter teeth, and healthier gums. Laboratoire Du Haut Segala’s Oil is organic and cold pressed.

Eye Cream

Use a dab on bags and fine lines. Light enough for the most delicate skin on your face. Try the RMS Beauty Coconut Cream.

Cuticle Oil and Hand Cream

Glowy, fresh skin is in! But if that doesn’t come naturally just dab a little RMS Coconut Cream onto the tops of your cheekbones and just above eyebrows for skin that looks lit from within.

Massage and Body Oil

Warm Coconut Oil and add a few drops of an essential oil, like Lavender or Peppermint, for a soothing massage mix. Find it in Odylique’s beautiful Coconut Body Scrub and Boutique brand Soothing Touch. You’ll smell like you’ve been on a beach all day…
